Access at Entrance
The Entrance to the Main Reception is accessed via inward opening double doors that lead directly into the Reception Lobby. The doors are of sufficient width to be accessible for all users and weather protection is provided. Reception staff will then direct delegates/visitors to the relevant conference/banqueting suite.
Access to the Conference Entrance is via double outward opening doors. The doors are of sufficient width to be accessible for all users, however staff will assist delegates if required. There are 6 steps leading down to the Conference Entrance. Handrails are present on both sides of the steps to assist users to navigate their way down the steps safely. There is a multi level ramp leading to the Conference Entrance offering a step free alternative access point.
Please be advised that the ramp flights differ in gradient between landing points.
There is a lowered section of the Reception Desk available and staff will assist where necessary to help delegates and visitors navigate accordingly to the relevant Conference/ Banqueting rooms.
The accessible toilet is suitable for a right handed transfer and meets the requirements for grab/drop down rails.
The alarm cord is accessible from the floor area and is controlled at a central point.
There are many conference rooms available at IET Birmingham: Austin Court, ranging from small rooms, to accommodate up to 8 delegates, or larger conference rooms accommodating up to 200 delegates.
Seating plans can be adapted to suit a range of styles including boardroom/ theatre and training.
Access to All Areas
There is a passenger lift available which offers access between conference floors. The dimensions of the lift car are suitable for intended use. There are also stairs offering alternative access. There are single height handrails available on both sides of the stairwell.
