The Hotel is ideally situated in the suburbs of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. New Street train station is 7 miles from the Hotel, from Birmingham New Street take the Lichfield City line to Chester Road, this station is only 1.5 miles from the Hotel and Birmingham International airport is only 10 miles away. The National Express West Midlands bus 115 stops on Penns Lane, just outside the hotel. The 914 service stops on Walmley Road, approximately 0.5 miles from the hotel.
Car Park and Drop Off
The Hotel has a large car park with 600 spaces available, 3 of which are for accessible parking. The accessible parking bays are located on a short step free distance from the main entrance. Parking is free in the hotel car park to residents and guests. All of the accessible parking bays have signage on the car park surface and at windscreen height.
Access at Entrance
The Main Entrance has double doors which open outwards and in good weather they are left open. There are both steps and a ramp up to the Entrance. There is also some seating located to the left of the Main Entrance on a paved patio area. The Main Entrance is canopied to provide weather protection.
The Dorchester Suite has two entrances, both of which are located next to each other; the first entrance is a stepped entrance which has double doors that lead into an entrance lobby. There is a step free entrance located just to the side which has a ramp leading up to a single door entrance that is wide enough for wheelchair users to pass through.
The Reception Counter is located in the Reception Lobby. The Reception is a short distance from the Main Entrance and is ideally situated within close proximity to the Club Bar, the Lounge and Club Restaurant. Staff are very helpful and friendly and assist guests in any way they can.
Sebastian Coe Health Club
There is a single entry door into the Health Club that opens outwards and is wide enough for wheelchair users to pass through. The Health Club Reception is located on the lower ground floor. There are stairs and a platform lift for wheelchair users down to this area. On the upper floor in the entrance lobby there is a separate meeting room called Penns Quay, as well as a hairdressers and a membership office where membership to the Sebastian Coe Heath Club is available.
The Hotel offers an extensive range of facilities, these include the Club Bar, The Lounge and The Club Restaurant, and they are all located on the ground floor and can be accessed from within the Main Hotel from the Reception. Guests can also enjoy the free of charge facilities at the Sebastian Coe Health Club. The Health Club also has a steam room, spa pool and gym. There are 15 conference and event rooms which, when combined, make an outstanding setting for weddings, events or conferences. There are also numerous meeting rooms available for hire, all of which have internet access.
Access to All Areas
There is step free access to all areas within the Hotel with the help of the lifts and platform lifts. Corridors within the Hotel are wide enough for wheelchair users to use. The platform lifts in the Reception Lobby, on the first floor and at the Mayfair Suite Entrance have to be operated by staff. The Platform lifts at the Dorchester Entrance and in the Sebastian Coe Health Club can be operated by guests.
