The main road that gives access to Winterbourne House and Gardens has buses stopping frequently along it servicing local routes to and from the City Centre. The University Railway Station is also situated approximately 900 metres away.
Car Park and Drop Off
The Main Car Park is accessed directly from the main drive by bearing right after approximately 30 metres from the main road. There are 34 spaces available here. There is also an alternative parking area located to the left of the Main Entrance to Winterbourne House and provides parking for 13 cars.
Access at Entrance
Entry into the Main House is firstly through a single, inward opening door which has a level threshold and then through an additional door which leads into the Reception Lobby. The additional door has a step in the threshold however a portable ramp can be provided for wheelchair users. Entry into the Gift Shop is via a single, inward opening door. The Education Centre Entrance is kept closed and only opened for specific access for booked groups and education days. This entrance gives stepped access only, however step free access is available via the Main House and visitors would be accompanied to the Education Wing by a member of staff.
The Reception Desk is located immediately on the left after passing through the Main Entrance. Information and leaflets are also available from this area and staff will assist visitors with any questions they may have.
There are thirteen conference rooms available within Winterbourne House. These rooms can be set up in a variety of scenarios including theatre or boardroom style. Audio and visual equipment is available upon request.
The Terrace Tea Room serves a variety of hot and cold meals and snacks. There is a seating area adjacent to the self service counter and a small seating area on the outside terrace which overlooks the gardens.
The Main Exhibition Room has an interactive centrepiece detailing the history surrounding Winterbourne House and its previous owners. The centrepiece used to be the exact location of the previous owners' billiards table. There are also additional sections explaining the owners business activities spanning the last century.
The study has continual audio information and a projection of a person, on the wall, explaining details of an average day when he was the owner of Winterbourne House. There are also numerous information boards around the room and building plans to view on the desk area.
The Education Centre is located on the left side of the Main House and is used as a learning experience for local school children.
The Drawing Room is dedicated to the previous owners wife and has extensive collections of period memorabilia. In addition, there are numerous information boards.
The Gift Shop gives direct access to the Walled Garden and sells a variety of gifts, plants and memorabilia.
Access to All Areas
There is a platform lift available which gives access to all three floors of Winterbourne House. The key to open the door is kept at the Main Reception and staff will assist with operation if required. There are also stairs that offer access to the upper floors, generally these are only used by conference delegates and staff as there are no exhibition displays on the upper floors.
